Welcome, I'm Kura Carpenter a New Zealand Writer and Book Cover Designer based in the small but perfectly formed coastal city of Dunedin.
New Zealand, as I'm sure you may have heard is a tiny country floating way down in the lower Pacific - next stop Antarctic! - famed for its unspoilt countryside.
I live here with Dana, my greyhound that I adopted in 2014 through GAP (Greyhounds As Pets), an organisation set up to re-home retired racing greyhounds.
A few years ago a spur-of-the-moment decision to buy a vintage sewing machine sent me down a new path in learning to sew, which has seen my graphic design work venturing into fabric designs, and you can follow my progress into this field via my Spoonflower shop.
I volunteer at the Bond Street Hospice Shop, and am involved in a group of Victorian Costumers, Images of the Past Dunedin, who raise funds for books which are given to the children’s ward in the Dunedin Public Hospital.
As well as this writing blog, if you're interested in sewing and costuming, please check out my crafty blog.
